Yes, the a7 has it built in the plug and I used a GFI outlet. Felt like more than static my hand was tingling afterwards.

Are you using PEX or copper? If it's metal plumbing that should be a solid ground.
No way should you have dangerous voltage on your A7. The Hot side of the AC line going to ground would be cause major current. Something has gone wrong inside the box or it wasn't wired correctly from the factory. Put a VOM on the AC plug. Check it for a low reading to the A7 copper HX and the ground pin on the plug. If that's good, make sure that both voltage plug/pins have high resistance to ground.

Popped another 5 amp fuse turning the hot water on (only use on the week ends).
Went to a plumbing supply store and asked for a 10 amp fuse. He said he wouldn't sell it to me because it would ruin the relay. They had no 5 amp fuses. Tried another supply house they were out also. Went to an auto supply and found 10 amp in a larger diameter. Put that in with a little extra push and it's working fine. Tried testing the tube for stray juice but nothing. Not sure why I got zapped. Do you think the ten amp fuse could damage the relay? |

If you can get that old shorted T-stat completely disconnected, it would be good.. It might be melted inside.?.
Just get the wires off it and cap them with twist caps or tape. If your pump relay is like mine, (R845A) it should be able to handle the 7 to 8 Amps used by the A7. And a start-up surge up to 44A..

I have a new A7 thermostat for sale, removed from my A7 inasmuch as I am using the electronic thermostat in my gas HWH to control the A7.

Was it difficult to remove? Does the copper probe tube detach from the thermostat?

So, when you removed it, you took out the sense tube and replaced it with a bolt?

Not using the cu tube evaporator, couldn’t get it into my HWH. Using a small brazed plate external HX.

I have one of this HX units, but never got to use it. Found a cheap A7..
Please post some pics or give me a link, so I can see your HX install.. I'm very distracted now, so if you have already posted pics, please forgive me for forgetting that we already had this conversation...
