I have some of those, another brand but they work the same and look pretty much the same.
I really like them because you can hear almost everything that is going on around you, you can even turn the volume up a bit but the speakers inside never go louder then 30db, so if you are busting apart a wall or doing something else that has sudden loud noises it doesn't turn the sound off, it just throttles it back.
I also like them because you don't end up feeling isolated, other hearing protection muffles to much making you want to remove them.

I am going to look into getting a set for work. For me the headphone jack on them is what makes me want them. Does the volume knob adjust the music volume or just the ambient noise volume?

I like the idea of being able to use my little Sony radio when I'm mowing the lawn with the gas mower.

But, I also shoot rifle matches at a local indoor-outdoor 200yd range.
It's so loud, I use ear plugs and muffs. But since my hearing is already in bad shape,
I can't hear range commands very well. (Plus the PA system is distorted).

If I had these muffs, I'm pretty sure (based on reviews) they would allow me to hear the commands, even with ear plugs in..

Anyways, I think the Ebay seller pulled the items, because he mis-priced them or he's a scammer.
The original page is gone, but the Paypal payment has been made for two headsets.
I may have to find another dealer (Amazon?) that's more buyer friendly.

Funny thing, the sell page said the product would be shipped from the USA.
But the dealer (xiaona wang) seems to be overseas..
I've sent an email, but I'm not going to hold my breath for a good reply.

The pair I have the volume knob adjusts both ambient and input volume at the same time so if you have a really quite MP3 player then it's drowned out by out door noise, it's a weird design flaw as I see it, of course if you have a loud MP3 player it works great! I tend to use ear buds for better sound quality but it means I can lower the volume.

If I were to plug in my radio or MP3 player, I would set the volume control on the muffs
so I could hear okay and then adjust volume & balance on the radio or MP3 player to the desired levels.

After reading the reviews, I would not expect to use these for music very much. If at all.
Due to a lack of bandwidth, these work best for frequencies in the voice range..

thanks, I looked into these and found some that are designed for music. not as slime but I would sacrifice size for sound quality

I got a pair of these and tried them out with my Ipod mp3 player.
I was able to set the ear muff gain where it worked for me,
then adjust the Ipod volume for best sound level. (depending on the artist).

Tested them today at the outdoor target range. I used foam ear plugs under
the ear muffs and easily adjusted the gain so I could hear conversations.
The AGC (automatic gain control) clipped off the noise from .22 rifle fire on the range.

And firing a loud rifle (with a short 16" barrel) seemed about the same
as using my standard shooting muffs. Only I could hear normally between shots.
So, these should do well when operating loud equipment (like my upright belt sander).

Allen Company Light Weight Low Profile Sound Sensor Hearing Protection, 2320

Cost less than some of the others and due to some strange resonate cavity tech, this thing works pretty well.

Checked it out today, by comparing the Allen unit with my old standard muffs.
They seem to have the same attenuation, but it seems like normal sounds
like voices are less muffled/distorted. I cranked up a radio and listened
to the news with both headsets and neither one let in much sound..

The reviews on the Allen co. units are hit and miss.
It seems like these don't work well for some people, while others think they are great.
I'll have to see how they work with a .357 mag, the upright belt sander and shop vac, before I decide.
