Gardening to save money
Another one of the blogs I subscribe to to get financial tips is called Get Rich Slowly. They talk about things like savings and investment, but the writer and his wife are also doing a project where they figure out how much time and money they are saving (or losing) by growing their own food in the garden.
I love gardening for various reasons, so this is definitely interesting to me. Click the link for their october update: The GRS Garden Project: October Update ? Get Rich Slowly |

So they made a little over five bucks an hour. Not bad.
To me, gardening is a lot like fishing. I like the idea of gardening (fishing), it's just not high enough on the priority list during this stage of my life to engage in it. Maybe after we're done raising the kids... Every year the wife wants to plant a gazillion tomato plants (OK, about 8-10 usually). Then at the end of the season she loses interest and leaves them to dry up and rot. Women. Can't live with 'em and you can't shoot 'em.
