Wow haha, that is a quite a bit.
Any tips for the repair? I got some silicon coated wire for R/C planes that is very flexible so hopefully it doesn't fail again. Mcmaster has some wire called 'continuous flex' that is specifically made for robotics that I was contemplating trying.

I have printed pounds of PLA also.
It depends where yours is breaking. Mine was breaking at a built in connector. This was put in to make it easy to change out the heater. I fixed the connector the first time the second time I just took it out and soldered the wire together. The thing that helped the most was the black tie in this picture it sends the stress across more of the wire. I use Trombotine Trombone Slide Lubricant http://www.amazon.com/Trombotine-338.../dp/B0006VWYB6 For the rails someone recommended this stuff it seems to work well. The more printing you do the more you need to keep it lubed up. |

Have any of you played with Autodesk 123D and the ability to shoot a sequence of digital photos and generate a TIN which can be output to a 3d printer file?

123D appears to take the college classes I had in Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing to a whole new computing level, without using a calibrated camera lens. It would be interesting to take still frames out of a GoPro video circling an object and see what resolution TIN could be developed. My first trial object with 123D used a 10MP point-n-shoot and ~10 frames. I gave it a workout with a dark colored object with considerable contouring. |

That is very cool. Care to share some of the screen shots and pics of what you've done?

I am printing a VR Headset for my phone. I can use this to fly my new phantom 3 drone.
Here is mine so far. Now they just need to ship the lenses I ordered. If I like this one then I will print this one it is a very cool design.

Wow nice to see you guys are totally into this. Yeah this 3d printing stuff is awesome. I started with an Ultimaker 2 (It's a filament based printer). Now I'm saving up for a Rova 3D Printer. I also got my invoice so I can use it as a business expense.
Form 2 3d printer is a little pricey. We desperately need the 'iPhone' of printers. That's when the real revolution will begin Last edited by greenmachin; 10-03-20 at 01:23 AM.. |

Well, I've had my Up! Plus printer for about 4 years now. I've made quite a few parts on it, and sold well more than enough to pay for it. But, its time to upgrade. I just ordered myself a CR-10S about a week ago. It has a print area of around 12" x 12" x 15", and able to print many more materials. My Up! Plus can print about 5" cubed. I'm really looking forward to playing with it.

Do you have a link to the one you are getting?
A while back I switched to an all metal hot end so that really allowed me to be able to print more materials. I have been printing some PTEG lately.
