Machine converts plastic into oil
Now, this is cool. They don't get into any specifics, but the idea is amazing. Just think of all the plastic sitting in land fills that could be converted back into oil versus just sitting there for so many years...

That is just the coolest machine I've seen in ages. The ramifications of that are so widespread and mostly excellent, assuming it is true.
There are mountains of plastic trash that don't get recycled that could be processed into a valuable commodity. I want one. |

Imagine "filling up" your car with plastic bottles. Sort of "Back to the Future"-ish.
In many discussions about what to do with trash I would tell people that what they throw into the landfill is not waste, but a very valuable resource, and that there will come a time when old landfills will be opened up because of this. Nobody believed me. Now I can start saying "Told you so!!" |

I'd be very interested to learn more about the machine. How efficient it is vs crude (it has to be way more efficient). But, I'd also like to know what the plastic looks like and what you do with it after the machine is done, and how much oil the machine can reclaim from the plastic.

Noticed that on the machine's digital display, the highest temperature shown was 420C.
That's a lot of energy in.
