Bernzomatic 3 in 1 Micro Torch

Got this as a free gift in the mail today. Looks pretty neat.

You re-fill it like a cigar lighter, with one of those little butane cans.

The first thing that came to mind, is there a propane fill adapter?
If not, could you make one?

It seems I'm getting to be a Hardcore DIYer..

I like that its palm sized, looks easy to hold steady,it will be possible to refill it using an adapter for the 220g bayonet mount butane canisters commonly sold for $2-2.50 a can in hardware stores. A few days ago I saw online, a refill adapter that provides the cheap 220g butane can with a lighter refill end on it.
I had just bought an adapter so I can use the 220g butane canisters with my backpackers lightweight jet stove (weighs just 100 grams), for a 70% savings in fuel costs/expense. At the same time I bought another propane butane adapter so I can mix my own 70-30 butane propane for my colder weather camp fuel.

I think it's a pretty neat tool, but it didn't come with any fuel, and I never got around to buying any..

I have two propane torches and a 240 watt Weller Expert soldering pistol,
so when I need to solder big stuff, those are my go-to tools.

This week, I ordered a little LNA board kit off Ebay, and the 0603 SMT parts are so small,
I realized that my smallest (40w) soldering iron is way too large for this job.
A new iron is in the mail.. Coopertools SP12 Mini Lightweight Solder Iron - Amazon.com

If I was still working, I could have done this on my lab bench (with the right tools).
During my lunch hour of course..

I wonder if the little torch would work with 100% propane.?.
Is there a fill adapter that will allow using a 14-16 ounce propane tank, to fill up the micro torch?

Propane has a Vapor Pressure of about 170 at 70*F while Butane Pressure is only 17 PSIG 's

at 200F Propane is at something 650PSIG of pressure while Butane is 47 PSIG's.

Some risks are involved..That little plastic butane tank on the torch is not all that encouraging !

More frighting !

I will be cautious with my butane / propane refilling and Mixing percentages the stock Steel Can's are 30% propane 70% butane mix and are much lighter weight then the Green propane tanks.

Wow, that's a big difference in pressure.
I should have guessed that, after using plastic BBQ lighters for decades..

Lighters are the only thing I've ever used butane for.

I wonder how well butane would work as a refrigerant? I'll have to look that up..
