Have you been keeping any kind of power vs outside temp during your Sanyo(s) use?

It would be very useful to see how that looked on a graph.

It was cold here also about 2 am it got down in the teens I turned the LG units off. They were still putting out some heat but at that point gas is cheaper to heat with.

The Gree unit as usual did great I left it on all night. The rest of the house we used our natural gas heat. The room that has the Gree mini split has a big return in the same room so it would help the rest of the house some.

It is now up to 48 deg and the Mini splits are making all the heat. Solar is cranking out 9.3KWH much better than the last couple days.

Let my Fujitsu run all night set to 66. When I got up it was 65 in the house. I'll take it.
I hate running the boiler.
There was a little puddle of water under my oil boiler this morning. I'm hoping it's because the basement was down to 47 and the steel shrank?

Some of the older boilers that were installed around here in 1956,
would leak when they got real cold.
They needed to be kept warm so the parts wouldn't contract and allow
water pressure to seep past the seals.

You're making that Gree sound better and better!

Really good solar here today. My panels over-perform when it's below 20F.

We do have a local underground weather station (1/3 mile from here) that is a great data source for outside temperatures.
But, I no longer track the day to day Sanyo power use. I'm more focused
on using my own weather sensors and power monitors for use in
real-time trouble shooting of problems as they arise.

As of this week, I can see the power use of both Sanyos in realtime.

I found it very interesting to see the Sanyos do a power ramp-up in stereo.
The power steps and their timing was almost identical.

Now, I'm seeing how much we are paying to heat the den..
(With all it's leaky windows).

Last night the Den Sanyo was on for 1 extra hour, and the LR gets solar gain,
but the difference in the readings this afternoon, are still troubling.
Den=4.8kWh LR=1.9kWh.
I'm going to check out the difference during the next over-cast cold day..

Smile New to ecorenovator.org

Hi,
I'm new to this site. Well I've been reading a lot but have never posted.
I'm 63, live in Southern Oregon and really want to get a couple of these ductless split air systems for my home.

I'm not sure where to make my first post. I've read every post under Xringer article and would like to ask some questions about my home and installation.

If someone could direct me where to post I would appreciate.
Thanks a lot, Woody

Default Hello

Hi Woody,
Just start a thread on the Geo heat pump page,
Geothermal & Heat Pumps - EcoRenovator

Because, around here, we bunch air source heat pumps (ASHP) in with ground source. (GSHP)

You could make the topic, "Questions about DIY Install of Mini-Splits"

Describe your local climate and some general info about your home.
How large of space do you want to heat and cool, and how good is the current insulation, do you have lossy windows & etc..

Then start off with a few questions, and get the conversation going.

We have a lot of technical expertise here on ASHP in general and a few experienced DIY Mini-Split installers.

A few people have installed newer models than my old Sanyo monsters.
There are some good install pictures shown on their posts..
Someday I'm going to own one that works down to -2deg F..

Another place to get install info is Youtube.. You just need a fast connection and the time to dig out the good ones.

Please PM me after you post your questions. Send me the link, and maybe I'll give you
some input you can use..
