Default Kill-a-watt on sale

Pretty useful tool, and it's on sale right now. I am not financially affiliated with newegg or whomever makes the kill-a-watt.

Newegg.com - P3 Kill A Watt Electricity Load Meter and Monitor

Lightbulb Kill-A-Watt EZ at Home Despot

FYI,

Kill-A-Watt EZ's are for sale at Home Despot for $24.87 each (plus tax). As far as I can tell, this is a standard price, not a sale price.

http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...03&marketID=87

I've finally purchased one and am now logging various appliances starting in the kitchen. Wow, the toaster sucks electricity!

I do wish the Kill-A-Watt EZ displayed one more significant digit on the kiloWatt hour reading. Yes, I'm already wanting more precision and I've only had the gizmo for a couple of days.

FWIW,
Tim

I'm going to wait until they come out with one that does real-time logging,
with a wireless/USB PC connection..
In the 40 dollar range would be nice.

Connect a stereo FM transmitter to an amplified shunt and a voltage divider so it transmits the voltage and currents, then plug a stereo FM receiver into the line in port of your PC. Write a program to do real time DSP on the signals, calibrate it, and use it!

Stereo FM transmitters and receivers cost less than $10. A few dollars for additional parts and there's the hardware. It should be trivial to make it for under $30.
