The Wife and I just watch a great documentary about recycling. Garbage Dreams is about how people in Cairo, Egypt, sort through the city's trash with their own hands, recycling as much as 80% of it, while large companies with specialized trucks and machines only recycle what's easiest, sending lots of recycleables to the landfill.

There is also a recycling game, based on the movie. Very addictive

Thanks for the link. In most of the world, recycling is par for the course since there are so many poor people who can scrape a living dealing with other people's messes. Waste is a luxury of the rich.
