Default Google PowerMeter

Here are links posted by dremd on ecomodder : Google PowerMeter - Fuel Economy, Hypermiling, EcoModding News and Forum - EcoModder.com :
I have the project to get my near real time consumption from the meter since a year but I don't know how to use an iron...
Here is a simple transcoder to get that information from a French meter :
Hardware:CompteurEdf - MacodaWiki
(I have no idea if you have that TeleInformation pins (I1/I2) in a US meter and if they use the same protocol)

Denis.

PS good news, someone is selling one with a USB or serial interface
Teleinfo - 1. Présentation - Aperçu

Cool! Wouldn't it be great if EcoRenovator had something like that?

+1

Here are the data I'm manually collecting everyday and graphing in OpenOffice :
  • The raw data : Off Peak Hours, Peak Hours and total by day, graphed with the average of the last 7 points :
  • The forecast for the next yearly bill (HC = OffPeak / HP = PeakHours) :
  • And once a week I graph the consumption (by day) vs the production (by week) :

Last week was particularly sunny

I don't think it's necessary to collect everyday consumption. As a lot have monthly bills this frequency may be interesting.
Peak and off peak are to be present. Also PV/wind/... production could be interesting, at both inverter and meter counters.
To be complete, other energy sources (natural gas, wood...) should be present too.

As the car is described on EM.com, the house should be described on ER.org with parameters such as :
  • surface,
  • number of rooms, of people,
  • main and second energy source for heating air/water, cooking...
  • list of ecorenovations done/to be done

Denis.

Didn't completely developed my thoughts.
  • High resolution feed back as google's powermeter is interesting to see how much power your fridge, hot water... are using and how often they are switching on. Think about it as SGII real time feed-back with a logging function. It can even record consumption of appliance directly plugged and on which you can't use a wattmeter.
  • Monthly/weekly consumption can be compared to tank consumption in a car and should be enough to analyze ecorenovations needed/done.

Denis.
