I'm a huge fan of suspended ceilings in basements. They look good but can easily be taken down put back up when you need access to whatever is above them. My biggest remaining air leaks are drywalled in by previous owners...

Yeah I'm planning on putting a drop ceiling in my basement at some point. First I have to finish dealing with the wall I started tearing down on Saturday though 0.o.
About air sealing between basement and main floor, it's not really necessary if the basement is conditioned. Just like you don't air seal between the first and second floors. Is that what you were talking about? |

Nope I've got a serious leak in one bedroom I believe at the rim joists. To get to it I need to drop the ceiling in that room and possibly pull the drywall off the wall to do a real good job. When my woodstove is going that room now becomes an icebox. Adding a cold air intake for the woodstove will help a lot but right now I'm enjoying the nightly leaktesting opportunities.

Oh yeah, I got that too. Right under the wall my youngest sons head is against at night isthe basement door and I haven`t done a good job of air sealing that area yet. It's the coldest part of the house.
