Looks like a good find if it is not too noisy. Did you buy one?

I'm looking for one that will put out about 10 amps at 12VDC for LED's. For that price, buying 3 wouldn't break the bank.

I did order one. I don't care if it's a little noisy, since I'm going to use it to run a Noise Generator, that needs 24VDC @ 0.6A.

While I was shopping on Ebay, I did see some of these 'Buck converters' products rated for more amps.
They had heat sinks attached to the reg chips. 150W DC DC 10 32V to 12 35V Converter Boost Charger Step Up Booster Power Supply | eBay
I noticed they did have a higher price tag too.

I wonder how well these devices would work as a solar charger?

The mail is slow from China, but my shipment has made it all the way to NYC..
Should be here in a few more days.. Are snails faster?

Anyways, I plan to use this with an RF noise generator. (also in the mail).
Noise Source Simple Spectrum External Tracking Source | eBay
It needs 24vdc at 0.2 amps.
For a source, I plan to use a 12VDC SUV battery that's solar PV charged.

Why not just use three 9V batteries in series (for the noise source). I must have breadboarded hundreds of -9, 0, +9 V batteries for various analog projects.

Not a long term solution, but it will get you going for cheap!

Not long is right. Three 9V batts aren't going to supply 4-5 watts for too many hours.

I will likely need more wattage on my next experiment..

These specs aren't bad.. 70 watts isn't bad at all.

Xringer,

Would this do well to interface between a 50 watt PV panel and a 35 watt pond air pump? Have discussed this on another thread (pond aerator).

You could use one of these: 150W DC DC 10 32V to 12 35V Converter Boost Charger Step Up Booster Power Supply | eBay
To mach the voltage of the panel to the voltage needed by the pump..

Module Properties: non-isolated step-up module (BOOST)
Input voltage :10-32V
Output voltage: 12-35V (adjustable)
Output Current: 10A (MAX)
Input Current: 16A (MAX) (Please enhance heat dissipation if more than 10A)

Those are China made stuff, but without the quality and engineering supervision here.

You'll likely find that it can't do full rated output with 10v input and 35v output, or 32v input with 12v output for anything closed to rated max.

The efficiency will likely be mediocre and not live to what they claim under normal use.

Assuming it uses a real LM chip and not a fake, it should live up to its ratings.
