Default Defrost Video

It's been raining here.. Seems like about 3 days.. The sump pumps are running like crazy.

Frost conditions were perfect this morning.
It wasn't very cold, so the process was much faster than when it's down in the 20s F.

Here's the boring video.. Running at 4x speed.. To keep it short..

defrost - YouTube

It's like watching paint dry in normal x1 speed..
Now it's only 1/4 as bad now..

All 142 seconds!! Wow!
If you watched that video, you MUST be a hacker!

I'm sure to get an award from YouTube, for the most boring video since the paint drying video..

Sorry it was so long, but at any faster speed, the falling water droplets weren't visible..

Default "Long-term Mini-Split case study" from BSI

How many posts to share a link? I've been lurking in some of the Ground-Source Heat-Sink DIY threads, then found my way here. One of my favorite building-stuff sites, BuildingScience dot com, put out a Mini Split study in the Massachusetts climate. Here is a link to it. Otherwise, go to their web site, then Information, and pick the article.

Thank you for sharing the information on your install and its performance since then!

I enjoyed reading that report. It is very interesting that people that did setbacks or just turned off the units then turned them back on used the most energy.

They thought they were saving energy and they had the biggest temp swings and the biggest bills.

I was very surprised how well the newer systems worked in cold climates.

This is very useful data. The power usage charts show exactly what we were all saying on my install post today. The power usage varies greatly depending on lots of different things.
