if it's the original drain valve, you may have some luck replacing it with a full port ball valve. not much sediment can get through the small gate valves that come with it.

hopefully the tank hasn't gone bad

I might find out tomorrow. If the tank is NG, I'll need to figure out how to uninstall it.
The drain valve is (soft?) plastic and requires an empty tank to replace.
I'm going to try flushing it out after (if) I can find the leak and fix it.

This is one of the threads that got me interested in purchasing an Airtap A7 years ago.

I bought one and never got around to installing it, been sitting in my garage for about 7 years.

Because of this thread, and the interest in the Airtap on this site, I posted one that's new-in-box FS in the classifieds.

Hopefully someone will be interested in it.

I'll leave it up a few days here before posting on eBay.

We lost the long copper tube heat exchanger, trying to feed it out of the leaking tank, when it broke.
So, I've been thinking about adding a small heat exchanger to the A7, with a connection to pump it down and add some refrigerant.
Then, I could connect some copper tube to the small HX, into a small water pump and pass warm water thru the water-jacket of my HS Tarm old hot water boiler.
Seems like a lot of work for a 74 year old guy, who would like to spend more time on the important things in life.. Like enjoying my Grandson..

I’m suprized your contemplating defeat!!! After all the things you have accomplished. The installation of a brazed plate and pump maybe a little more daunting than just replacing the failed copper tube. A new HW tank with the A7 would be the cats behind for the next 30 yrs..

Go get em!!!

I've got most of the parts and tools to install the A7 on the HS Tarm.
It's got a 76 gallon water jacket that is currently using #2 heating oil to heat.
If I'm not to busy this summer, I'll take a shot at installing the HX on the A7.

But first, I've got to replace a lot of old copper and corroded parts on the HS Tarm boiler.
I've promised my wife that I would replace the mixer this spring.

Maybe I shouldn't use an add-on gizmo like the A7.
I want my wife to have hot water, in case I'm not around to do repairs.
I'm pretty sure that I don't have much time left on the old ticker.
It's all loaded up with plaque. I hope to get a few more summers out of it.
