Default Summer saving time

This night is summer time, so at 2AM will be 3AM... As I have something to do tomorrow morning I will effectively sleep less, but this mail isn't about that.

Historically this hour was decided to save 1 hour of lighting. Now it seams their organization (in flying companies noticeably) cost more than what they save... and people have now change one hour of lighting by one hour of air conditioning

More and more people doesn't want it anymore.

Would you like to keep it or to remove it ?

Denis.

Over here they actually call it daylight savings time. If it does in fact lower energy usage I'm all for it.

I wish they kept the summer time all year round. When I go to work in the winter it's dark...when I come home at night it's dark. If they left it during the summer hours all year long, I'd have at least 1 hour of light when I went home at night.

They're not saving anything with that whole 2 weeks early in the spring, 2 weeks later in the fall that they just incorporated here in North America. It's a big load.

I vote we end DST and just drag ourselves out of bed earlier.

"Only a white man would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket and sew it to the bottom of a blanket and have a longer blanket." --old Arizona Indian Chief, after hearing the reason for daylight-savings time

Ben Franklin was good but that was one of his dumber ideas.

Whatever...as long as whatever way we do it, we have an hour of light more in the evening. Kinda like the time we're in right now. I'd rather have light more in the evening then during the day or morning.

That's the only reason why I think Saskatchewan is smart (haha, sorry Knowbodies ). Cause they don't have DST. There in the same time zone all year round.

I like it. It gives me another hour to do outside stuff and/or yard work in the evening. That way, I don't have to try and do everything on the weekend. Nobody I know uses the 5:00-6:00 AM hour for anything other than sleep, anyway.

S'ok. If you look closely at a timezone map, you'll realize that we're not really a part of the central time zone. We're far enough west that we're actually running on mountain daylight time year round.

I once heard daylight savings time summed up by an old Native American like this:
Only a fool would think that cutting one foot off the top of his blanket and sewing it onto the bottom of his blanket will make his blanket longer.

I think if we got rid of daylight savings, and told everyone they had to be at work an hour earlier for half the year, people would freak out.
