We'll see how much rain falls from Isaac -- they are saying that as much as 20-24" !!

I hope the rains from Isaac fall short of expectation, I don't wanna see some folks lose their homes and livelihoods...sometimes it's all they have...

the weather keeps getting crazier by the year...it wasn't like this during the 80s

yup business as usual, the floods lasted for weeks so after a few days of being flooded some shops just opened..they need to earn to get life going. In some places with adobe and other non-porous materials under the surface, the flood is still there although just a foot deep since most have either drained or evaporated...and it's damn frigging stinky and has clumps of algae already.

The low lands got hit pretty bad. It only takes 1 or 2 feet to cause major damage.

Kinda weird this building still had power.

oh man, that looks pretty bad..so much for me wishing the united states would be spared from flooding...*sigh*

so, do vehicles there have natural events/acts of god clauses in their insurance?

Insurance companies get to pick and choose what they cover. And they are no longer covering all sorts of things and places. Lots of folks in the Gulf Coast area now live in trailers because they know that any home in that area is temporary and they can get insurance for a house, let alone at an affordable cost.
