I just noticed a new 130w Thin-film for $1.76 a watt..

Just got a hit on the new 110W panel specs.. (I think this is them)..

Still high voltage, but the open circuit voltage is not as high.

These are starting to look pretty good. And they seem to be built like tanks.

Today, I read somewhere that some of these 110 watt panels were installed
and they actually only had 100 watts out. So, the vendor made it up with some extra panels.
The panels were "de-rated".?.
But an other post said the new ones he had installed were putting out more than spec..
(The other thin-film panels they sell do put out more for the 1st few weeks).

So, there may be come confusion about the output of these new 110w models for a while.
I suspect it might have been a labeling problem at the factory,
since it seems they are making 100, 105 & 110 panels for some reason.

The fact they are selling them so closely spaced in wattage,
leads me to think they are making just one panel,
testing it and then labeling it with it's output..

These new 110w are heavy! 40 pounds each.

Size: 47.64 x 39.69 = 1,891 sq inches.

However, a standard old GE GEPV-110-M isn't that small either.
Size: 58.1 x 26 = 1,510 sq inches. (26.1 pounds).

That's only 380 sq in difference. A 19.5 x 19.5 inch square.

About 20% larger area. And of course there's the extra 14 pounds!!

Don't forget about the 54 volts at max-power..
But that higher voltage means less current.
Two Amps don't give you as much I-squared x R losses.
No need for Monster cables!

So, the Kaneka Hybrid PV Module are not such a bad trade off,
if I can get (4) shipped to my door for $2.12 a watt..

Is there a better deal per-watt around these days?

Ground mount idea..

Would look like this, but would be 10' sections of 2", instead of 1.25" sche40 pipe.
There would be a cross-section in the rear and the panels would be mounted on the top & middle rail. (Out of the snow).

I've been thinking about some 4-way couplers in the front, to allowing lifting the front using 'legs/feet' to set the seasonal angle higher in summer.
