Been wanting to do a solar install and it would fit on the shop roof just fine. Course I'd take it with us when we move...
Thanks. Drop me a PM when the time comes.

PinBall,

Volt moving up to 516 mpg. 3100 miles on 6.0 gallons, last check it was 478 mpg. Volt may have it's gen 2 out in 2016. The only thing I'd like is 100 mile range on battery.

I've been getting a few 70 kWh days. Today I got 17.16 and 62.52 kWh, I'm sneaking up on a 80 kWh day. Missed 80 kWh's by 1/3 of 1 kWh.

See picture of my two monitoring systems. Top is Sun Power 9.2k, other is SMA 2.45k monitoring.

80-79 kwh day just makes me smile. Very good numbers. We have 838 kwh so far this month.
We are up to -$40 so far this month.

Sweet Volt MPG we will never get that good we live to far away from everything.

We do have 19,819 solar power EV miles but just 200 mpg.

Wow, your awake.

The movie is of me getting biomass (grass clipping) for compost, this last weekend. You can see my current compost piles in middle of the video. I'll have five large piles in a couple months. I'm pushing for 80 yards of compost up for sale this year.

New toy - Cyclone XL -

I lived way out also, but after 40 years, everything moved out to us. I drove 32 miles (company truck, one way to work). Sometimes I drove 300 miles one way to the job site (AT&T, of course hotels).

My brother's 6.37kW system is approaching it's anniversary - and it will probably be well over 6MWh for the year. I'll check with him to confirm.

That is powering two EV's, with zero gas - so infinite MPG?!

NeilBlanchard,

Not ready for EV yet, I would need the range of a Tesla. Tesla is suppose to be working on a EV for $25k to 35k or so. If they do, their going to have a very large factory turning them out.

They are planning to build a 5billion$ battery plant here in TX or AZ. Last I heard was they want to produce 150K batteries a year at peak production. The plans call for a massive facility. Tesla still has to work out how to sell their cars since some states won't let a car company sell direct to the consumer.

There is one tesla running around here. Pretty nice looking car too. It'll be a while before I can do an EV as well until they come out with a truck or at least a wagon that can pull a trailer and increase the range.

Elcam84,

You know I drive an Hummer-H2. 1500 miles last year, hardy worth an oil change. I would not trade Hummer for a Tesla, very cool ride. Come to think of it, I need to go buy gas.

70 and loving life.

Producing a profitable 35k car is a lot different than producing a profitable 80k car. I am still not so sure about air cooled batteries the Leaf uses them and they have had more issues than the Volt that has water cooled batteries. You have to take care of them better and some people just don’t do that very well.
But if air cooled batteries can prove themselves and they can produce a 200-249 mile EV for 35K then I am excited about it.
