Woohoo, an update! My cousin came the other day and measured the room for the trim work around the windows and the baseboard. Hopefully things can get moving again on this as that really is the last step besides finding some new can LED lights and putting the ceiling fan back up which are both pretty minor.

So, once again I'm looking for suggestions for good LED lights that fit a 6" can.

Nope, I haven't done anything with the hydronic system yet. The tubes are still just dangling (plugged) in the basement.

I finally found some LEDs that I like and that don't buzz. Ironically, they're just a lower output version of the Sylvania's that I had before. The first ones I tried were their RT6-HO, these are just the RT6 model. 700 vs 1400 lumen, 10W. The cost was VERY reasonable, $18/ea plus $3 rebate, so $15 per. No buzzing at all, even with the dimmer switch installed.

Small update on this project. I finally put my painted trim boards up on the outside windows. I'll have to get pics of it when I get the rest of the siding put up.

So, how's it going with the radiant floor??

Seems that you have done all the radiant work except connecting the PEX to the heat source.

You're correct. Its not hooked up yet.

I won't be connecting it to the current system (which ran off my hot water heater). I'll be hooking it up once the solar hot water setup when I get around to doing the tank and plumbing for it.

I was thinking that a DIY waste oil burner could be the heat source .. if you can find a supply of free oil.

You could use a coil of copper to act as a heat exchanger , that way you could have heat all winter.

Maybe even as a winter only heat exchanger then in the spring summer you can use the Sun.

A roll of copper painted black would be a effective and easy way to make a panel.

You could also make the panels round so the coil functions properly.

I really like the idea of coiled copper panels , easy and effective and somewhat affordable , compared to buying them from a company.
