I just located a decent price on some white metal for my roof. It is not that far away and in stock. I hope to pick it up tonight then it will be on to insulation and the roof.

On the back ½ of the roof I think I am going to put a 2 x 6 on end 5 1/2” kind of build a box for the insulation to go in.
There will be 3 layers XPS 1.5” insulation they will have staggered joints and I have 4” x 1” treated lumber for nailers. Then the white metal roof will go on top of this.
The front roof will just get metal on the overhang.

I think I will need that venting in the winter. This is the first day we have had sun since I put up the plastic over the vents. It is windy and 55f outside right now.

The auto vent open/close just came in.

I used up the last of the treated 2 x 6's and the last two 2 x 8’s. I ripped the 2 x 8 down to 2x 6 size.
I needed that small piece for the back boxing anyway.
I built box to hold the three layers of XPS insulation.

I put up one more layer XPS insulation before dark.

I picked up my white roof metal. I just bought 21' sheets I have so many different lengths I am just going to cut it all as I install it.

I made some more progress.
I had to work on my compressor some today. There is a squirrel cage style fan under the cover. The bolt came off and the fan was banging around. The allen head bolts are recessed about 5 – 6 inches. It took a while to find a tool to get to them.
I found the bolt and put lock tight on it. It all took longer that than I thought it should have.

I did the flashing on the front roof where it meets the polycarb. Insulation is done on the front top.

Then I made DIY sheet metal brake. It is temp and nothing fancy but it works.

The metal I have is just 41” long so I did not need a big brake.

The fish water only lost 2 degrees F last night. today I got it up to 64.5f.

Gimmie a brake! Wow, that's improvising at it's best. You must have been a Boy Scout or a Recon Marine..

Seeing that thermometer at 99F just blew me away.. My stinking attic can't even hit 80F these days..
That means my basement warm-air ventilation isn't running.. Soon we'll be up to our necks in Radon gas!
I'll have to tweak the program for winter settings.. The Winter Solstice is sneaking up on us..

I was not a boy scout but as they say necessity is the mother of invention.
I was an Electronic Technician ”ET” in the Navy trust me we had to improvise many times.

That day it was 99 F it was supper humid in there and the roof was just raining inside. It was cold outside and very hot inside.

Yesterday it was over 100 f in there but I had insulated the roof. The roof was dry it was so cool seeing the insulation hard at work.

If you get cold and want to simulate visiting a rain forest, just bring a lawn chair out to the green house! I was a GMT-0850 (striker) in the Navy. Learned how to shoot and paint aircraft carriers without getting killed.

Can't wait to see a time-lapse video of those vents working..

I have similar vents on my (boring, conventional) greenhouse. I bought the greenhouse secondhand and it came with those vents. I installed the greenhouse too late in the season to make use of it this year so have not grown anything in it yet, but have seen the vents open on sunnier days and close as the greenhouse cools in the evening. They seem a great idea.

My Grace ice and water came in today and it was 68 f out. It needs to be warm for this to stick on the wall. I took off work early and put it up. My greenhouse is half black now.
This is my vapor barrier and moisture control layer. The insulation will go on against this. Three layers XPS foam 1.5” each layer is R7.5

The Work on greenhouse before work. I nailed the top, bottom and seems on the ice and water underlayment. It is not really designed for walls and I don’t want it to come off so this should give it some added protection.

Next up is to take a treated 2 x 6 and treated 2 x 4 and make some trim like the box I made on the roof.
I will put the on the left side of the door and the top of the door. This will give the insulation something to rest against and not let air blow through the layers.
I will do this on the east wall also.
