I just ordered the driver from Pololu for $7 which is pretty cheap. This process will take some time as i have to determine how well the subcooled temp can track the outdoor temp or even if it has to. The old system I am copying only has the bulb on the liquid line and no other control (other than defrost). It will be interesting to see if an EEV with one sensor can emulate a traditional valve and bulb.

A head pressure sensor is cheap assurance of accuracy. Just a single (or double) thermometer takes lots of trial and error to make the valve track reality. Most equipment mfrs state that pressure sensing at least doubles precision, even after dsp or modeling parameters.
Is this for your milk cooler valve heat pump? I am curious about it. I was waiting for some info on the beast, as it looks attractive in the sense that only one valve works both heating and cooling modes. Somewhat the same end result as EXV/EEV without additional electronics to be invented/made. Randy and Brad got their heat pumps going well enough to save ample energy, my window shaker finally shook itself to death before I could complete an autonomous controller for it. |

Yes it is for the milk cooler project but other than for defrost, there is no cooling function (in my application). For a better description of it, look up westinghouse HiReLi. There isn't a lot of info around and you have to dig for it but it is there.
