nope my plan is/was to use a different flue to intake the air. The woodstove flue and the potential intake flue exit about 3' apart from each other. I may just run the pipe across the basement and put the intake on an outside wall if drawing smoke down is a real concern. The main reason I wanted to use the empty flu is my woodstove is centered in the house so getting outside air over to it is non trivial.
I was reading about a coroplast heatexchanger idea that may work quite well If I decide to run to the outside wall and decided to preheat the incoming air a bit. |

Yep, it's not an issue anymore anyways. My wife likes the idea of drawing from the backyard and adding an HRV of some sort to get more fresh air into the basement area.
