I did some work on is this morning and I hope to finish this beam after work today.
Here is the support beam I am building it will be 3 treated reclaimed 2 x 8 and two pieces of OSB the OSB is really just making it all fit in a 6 x 6 post holder. I am gluing both sides of the OSB putting screws and nails in each layer. The beam I am building is in the 6 x 6 holder in the middle everything else will be taken down when this is done. Now this is what the ridge beam should look like. I am going to finish the supports before continuing on |

I finished the support beam. I still need to attach a couple boards to this one to the back and front rafter.
The roof is not sagging anymore. We went and picked up 80 bales of hay and I stacked it in my back building so I did not get more done. |

I add the front wall support. It is a steel beam ½ bolt in cement on bottom and 10 structural screws at the top.
One more thing crossed off the list. I need to tie in the main support beam into the front and back rafters. If you were wondering where that beam came from it is repurposed pallet stand cross beam. That front leaning wall needed extra support. When I picked up the pallet racking I bought two extra supports to use them on the greenhouse. I know this stuff needs done but I am ready to move on to other parts of the building. Last edited by pinballlooking; 10-22-15 at 10:40 AM.. |

only 10 structural screws? ahahahaa
heh well. if a small hole in your hand has helped (sorry) make you a bit more wary I'd say that's a small price to pay. the build looks great. really enjoying following this. what are you doing with the hay bales? do you have horses or some'at? |

My wife has 2 hay burners I mean horses.
I know I drilled 4 holes in the bottom of the bracket and the rest of the screws are in the top side. I was going to put 3 ½ nails in the side but I already had the screws in hand for the bottom. I work form home so the greenhouse build is 50’ for where I work it kills me to not go out and build. But I must pay the mortgage so I continue to code during the day. I am working in Philadelphia today internet travel the only way to travel for me. (for work anyway) |

I painted the west side. It has to be painted before the poly can be put up.
I got a couple build your post cap brackets for the main support beam. I like them they hold the top of the post nicely. Here are the brackets. Yes I am installing the upside down but it works very well for this setup. |

Wow!!
At least you don't need anyone to hold the ladder for you..
This project is looking more Expertly made, every time I look at it..

i work from home also. i tell you, living in the great white north, that 2 minute commute on those mornings when it's bitter cold with the wind and snow a blowin', makes me smile every time.
my first few years out here I had a terrible time keeping off the work site. didn't miss any deadlines, but maybe there were a few late night sessions catching up. nice work. and snazzy ladder. |
