Proper use of sheathing tape on outlets - Page 2

If you want to go all out you can get gasketed boxes that have a flange around the outside with a foam seal.
problem that I see is getting the tape all the way around the box without it taking forever to seal each box.

Yeah, I see what you're both saying. I haven't gotten back to the project yet, but I'll post what I come up with.

Hey y'all,

First post!

I saw on a DIY program recently that they were using plastic sheathing and if this is a new installation you would install all your boxes, install wiring, insulate (walls) lay sheathing. Cut the sheathing and tape the sheathing into the box. Hang drywall finish, electrical trim and done. If this is not new sorry.

If this is an existing installation why not use low expanding foam?

I'll be taping the sheathing to the electrical box. I just wasn't sure how its supposed to be done.

This is actually in a ceiling, so the insulation will be blown on top of the sheathing. I'll spray foam the rear of the box where the wires come through once the insulation is blown in.

I wish knew of this site when I had built my house in '03. I am sitting here in FL in 40 deg outside and freezing inside.
