Seems like a good product. Good rating. Not as high as I would like but 600°f is plenty for most stuff.

I looked at the product. The specs seem OK for the price.

I have worked with a Sensiron SHT-15 temperature/humidity measurement chip.

I bought a thing called "Mold Alert", which is really accurate, it may have the SHT-15 inside.

I also built an Arduino temp/humidity measurement hack device, which uses the Sensiron SHT-15 and both of the devices pretty much track temp and humidity like they were twins.

If you breathe on one of them, it drifts off, but otherwise, I am amazed.

At first glance, this looks very similar to the black & decker one I won from here last year. I love the thing!

Worth every penny for measuring surface temperatures and hunting down thermal leaks and a hundred other tasks. This model has a higher top end than mine, which is good for measuring exhaust temperatures and such.

Not quite the same as a thermal imaging (FLIR) camera, but just as useful in the right hands. Of course, for hundreds more dollars, you get a better picture.

I have units similar, and they are very, very useful in understanding the nature of heat.

Only thing better is a thermal imager, I suppose.

But in truth, each device, an accurate stationary thermometer, an IR non-contact thermometer and a thermal imager each has a particular niche that it occupies.

FLIR has its place great for a real outdoors man / military. Not a feasible tool for most homeowners do to its $ costs and limited advantage over a IR thermometer for checking for simple cold spots.



I have a similar model of that IR thermometer that I use fairly often ,and not just for seeking out cold spots from drafts or insulation testing (which it works great for) but also to check for abnormal heat build up in mechanical and electrical devices.
