Default used batteries

Is there anywhere in Wisconsin to get used but nice deep cycle or gel batteries cheap? Just thinking about putting together a small solar backup system

It looks like there are about a dozen golf courses in your area.
I hear electric golf karts use heavy duty 36v systems.
I don't know what kind of packs they use (3 12V?)
but they must change them out every few years.

There are places that sell kart batteries, that might have used they will sell?

Pretty much any scrap yard will have used batteries.
Golf cart shops would as well, but most of the time they charge you the $20 core charge while a scrap yard will charge you the $0.12 per pound, or about $7 for a 6v golf cart battery.
If you are going to go the used battery route, buy a good battery tester, there are some that will test the internal resistance of the battery to see if it's good and the cheap ones just have a volt meter and a huge resister to put a load on the battery.
Depending on your space, you can also sometimes find electric fork lift batteries.

Golf cart batteries tend to be either 6v or 8v 220amp hours when they are new and weigh 58 to 67 pounds each depending on brand and quality.

Most of them that I found only work on 12v batteries, this one works on a wider range of voltages.
