Default Planning a system

So I’ve got a rather large pile of HVAC parts laying around. Curious if a grossly over sized condenser is detrimental to performance or does it help? Talking air source, 1 ton compressor on a super old school Lenox condenser. So old it didn’t have any numbers on it so I’m not even sure what size it was my guess is it’s like a8 seer 3 ton? But it might be a two tone. Not sure.
