Default Anyone use VermiCulture or Worm Composters?

I was thinking of putting together a few trays (with possible expansion in the future) for food scraps but, am concerned it may be more of hassle than it's worth?

I am bit concerned about flies and odors in the house garage? I think this may be more effective in an apartment environment?

Would I be better off to just continue using the yard waste composter/pile?

I do lazy bin composting. I just have an open bin and dump everything in there. Later, when I'm working the garden, I dig out as much good stuff that's in there, leaving the partially decomposed matter for next time.
