Yea ill be in between jobs next week (ill have the whole week off) so I plan on getting a lot of things done next week because ill probably be working a lot more hours at my new job once I'm past training..

well ive pretty much got that part of the basement all framed out..

Something interesting i found and thought i would share..my cold air returns were not sealed at all in any way shape or form.. they basically just punched a hole in the interior brick and ran it into the joists.. basically my cold air returns are sucking air from outside when the furnace is on and letting cold in when its not running..

Red brick is exterior brick. then there is the inner brick and then the plaster walls..

Looks familiar!

Two words of advice:

Fire a LOT of tapcons into those bottom plates. All over the place. Put a couple hundred or so in. Or use a powder nailer. Usually people put the bottom plates on the slab and run the foam up to it. I didn't do this and it was the biggest mistake I made. I lost most of the remainder of my hair trying to figure out how to keep the damn floor from buckling. I ended up having to cut some breather room in the subfloor so it could move.

It's really great you're going through with this. You will be revolutionizing your house. It'll need less heat and have more living space. Looks like you're doing a nice job,.

Ive been very busy lately.. who knew owning a home could be so demanding? lol

UPDATE!!!!

Small change in plans

decided to ditch the insulation on the floor for now.. Other then that its still the same plan

Edit hopefully fixed the photos

Been there. I can't blame you. You'll still be plenty warm though. There is no way to have a completely thermally broken layer of insulation on your slab and put walls on the subfloor without issues.

Otherwise how's it all panning out?

Basically time and $$ I want to get the basement to where I can use it again.. Just to much going on at this point.. I probably started the basement sooner then I should have but I get bored easily

Unless you're fine ignoring code(and common sense) don't make the mistake that a lot of basement remodelers make. If the basement is for living space, especially a bedroom, most localities require egress windows. All the energy savings in the world will pale if someone can't get out in case of a fire. Other than that, looks like you're doing a fine job!
