Could you simply go with a absorption chiller?

I've looked at those before, very cool idea, but looks expensive. Anybody know how much those cost? I've always wanted to build a waste motor oil fired air conditioner with one of those - they sell such a thing but it's big money!

That would be really great in the summer, as we could use the heat to make air conditioning elsewhere. But the cooling season here is only about 3 months, the rest of the year we want to use the heat and we don't need cold, so I don't think we'd get much use out of that.

Oregon doesn't look bad for Radon, so why don't you look into Earth Air Tubes. Since it is a work shop, you probably don't care to much about moisture.

I'm not trying to get rid of the heat, I'm trying to reuse it.

Woops, sorry. How about driving a Stirling Engine? Crazy but if it is just going to be wasted, why not drive a Stirling Engine to drive a generator?

I don't know, I don't think 30k BTU would be enough to do much with.

I was just looking at heat pumps for pools like this one:
Swimming Pool Heater Electric Heat Pump Small 55 K BTU Factory Refurb Warranty | eBay
If I got something like that doesn't it make warm water and exhaust cold air right out of the box? What would the max water temp be with something like that? Most people don't keep their pool at 120F...

I have an idea. Why not just call Fastenal or MSC? They can sell you a portable industrial spot cooler for 20x the price of building one. Even better, they can deliver it straight to your storefront or loading dock in a jiffy. And it comes with a warranty: guaranteed not to rust, bust, collect dust, or cause you any headaches for at least 90 days. After that, it's yours, but if something goes wrong they can send a union guy to come take a look at it (additional service fee).

And another: Just run the hot exhaust vent into your central heating system. When the area that's cold demands heat, your hot room air would suck right in! Problem solved fo cheap!

Well hell, why don't I just have them bring it inside a new diesel truck and drop that off with the rest? Or geez, maybe I should save some energy and just move my shop to Alaska, and my office to Hawaii. Problem solved.

ROFL, now that's thinking on your feet.

Seriously, you could surf to surplus city liquidators and find the big parts:

TURBOTEC | COILS, STEAM & WATER | 4 TON COAX COIL | Surplus City Liquidators

DAY AND NIGHT | HEAT PUMPS - SPLIT SYSTEM | 4 TON SPLIT-SYSTEM HEAT PUMP 13 SEER 460/60/3 R-22 | Surplus City Liquidators

FASCO | PUMPS & PARTS | MAGNETIC DRIVE PUMP 208-230/60/1 | Surplus City Liquidators

Parts total: around $600 plus shipping (probably freight FOB Indianapolis). Grab odds and ends at your favorite hardware or plumbing store. Add your control device and plumb / flare /braze everything up. Evacuate coax coil, release charge, run system. If you don't have 3 phase power, for this price you could add a VSD and still come out under $1000.

You'll most likely want to oversize the condenser in order to decrease high side pressure a little for this application. Also, a 4 ton system is oversized for his application. 2-3 ton is what he asked for. A VFD is one solution.
