Found this...we might not be the first to have this issue with TXU. What is disturbing, is that they might not have learned from the past.

"I made a complaint on this web site back in November 2013 about TXU Energy Free Nights program. I am a solar customer providing energy to the grid in daylight hours. I was being charged for both the energy I consumed in the daylight hours and the energy I delivered back to the grid. I could not get satisfaction from TXU so I complained to the PUC. I sent smartmetertexas.com data to illustrate my issue to the PUC. Smartmetertexas.com data is the actual TDU data from all Texas residents with smart meters. TXU has corrected my bills finally effective 12/24/13."

I think it's related to negative pricing for wind power in TX.

It's better for a wind farm to drum up night time demand via a "free" program from the utility than have to pay someone to take their excess energy. It helps make current production more profitable and if it's successful, would allow greater expansion of wind.

Having said that, I wouldn't bank on the program being available for long if Tres Amigas pans out. Once generators can sell to other regions, there's no incentive to give locals free power.

Received my first bill from TXU today. All accounting of costs & grid credit was done properly. Very satisfied with the "free power at night; solar by day" plan.

With free power at night maybe you just need the new Tesla battery pack. Charge it at night and use the power during the day.

Receive my bill may 1st I will let you know how it goes looking at my energy dashboard it looks like I am being charged for my production its like txu has not switched my profile I have called and they are looking into it anybody else have this problem at first,?

So my solar setup has been running for 3 months as of july 1st. I will have a 136.14 check cut for my over production for the 3 months (they pay out quarterly). Everything came together as i intended and my free nights contract is up 02-01-2017. I plan to reap the rewards until then and hopefully they will still have this to offer as a utility plan then.

Got a 9.9kw setup with 2 sma inveters and 27 lg 280 watt panels. its been going good. what about your setup and bills?

We have 12.5 Kw installed

We get zeroed out March so since then we have banked 2MWh we need to bank about 3MWh to cover our winter heating. This also covers our driving Chevy Volt about 16,500 EV miles a year.
