Default DIY Flow hood

I want to compare my airflows to my manual j so I can adjust before 3rd party energy tests. Because the cheapest flow hood I've found is $1200 I will be trying this cardboard box method with the anemometer I already have. This article mentions a few other ways to test exhaust fans too.
