Does a potassium chloride system count?

Sorry, should have been more clear. Nope. There are systems that don't regenerate by back washing. Instead of exchanging salt or potassium ions for the calcium or mag in the water they convert the cl and mag so it stay in suspension and won't build up on you faucets etc.

I am just looking for people who have used both systems and what they liked better

My salt system is almost 13 years old and I can tell it's going and needs the medium replaced so thought I would look into other stuff out there
Thanks

Never found anyone that has one to see first hand experience, but on other forums I did find a lot of jerky type people that think they know it all

I did find a lot of info on regular water softeners and the best hardware to buy and that they are easy to set up so will order a really good one online and install myself

Thanks

My daughter unhooked her water softener after she had a scale blaster installed.

"So.... we installed the water softener I told you about. We turned off
our salt water softener and the scale blaster is working really well.
The plumber said he was skeptical too, but that it really works and it's
the same technology that's used to clear arteries, etc."

I've been looking at this type of gizmo.. Saw this:

I've also seen DIY kits under "Electronic Water Descaler Decalcifier Conditioner "
on Ebay..

I wonder if anyone here has been using one of these DeScaler gizmos.?.

Sounds quite interesting. I wonder how much power it uses.
