I have a degree in radioelectronics, but I have no time to teach you.
Read the article from the above posted link more carefully ("...The main problem is the inverter...") In addition, you can google some key words to get an answer to your question. Boris Romanov |

Boris, go totally electricity free if you must. PV doesn't produce high frequency radiation, most of it being DC till it gets to the inverter and after that, a few Amps of AC, nothing that isn't already in the house. Any commercial building or factory is far worse.
I know of the studies in Europe and the restrictions on house locations in Scandinavia due to high tension wires, as well as the discussions over cell and microwave radiation, but that is different than house wiring. |

The ~15A-20A of 240V AC running through my house from my PV array on the roof to the electric meter is no more carcinogenic than the equivalent electricity traveling through different wiring in my house to run my central A/C unit at 3AM.
I can pick up lighting strikes on my AM radio, even when the lighting strikes are tens of miles away. Are those same lighting strikes (spectacular electromagnetic discharges) hazardous to me if they are not in my immediate proximity? If you'd like to discuss harmonics on AC power lines, let's have a discussion on harmonics on AC power lines. I can pick up a nice 60Hz hum off all the AC power lines in my house if I get my AM radio receiver close enough to an unshielded power cord. It doesn't matter if it's dark outside and my inverters are all sleeping, the 60Hz hum is still present. As for the "danger" to the fire fighters: All my PV connections are clearly marked with disconnects where required by the National Fire Protection Association (otherwise known as the governing body responsible for the US National Electric Code). If the FD thinks the PV panels on my roof are a challenge to fighting a fire inside my home, wait until they try to cut through my metal roof with an axe, or try to break through one of my hurricane impact rated windows intended to survive two direct impacts from an 8 foot long 2x4 traveling 34mph without compromising the wind envelope of the house... Someone please move this thread to the billiard room... Last edited by where2; 03-07-14 at 09:04 PM.. |
