How much energy do you guys think could be saved by getting rid of the defrost feature ?

Holy cow, is that 27 kWh for the entire month? Thats amazing.

I'd stick the fridge on a kill a watt and see what the difference is. I wouldn't think its a ton, but you never know. Perhaps check out a few freezers with and without and compare energy star tags?

( 27 kWh is for a 22 day cycle. )
The fridge is on a Kill-A-Watt already ( see the images above ).

I just love Texas weather. I have not used my heater once.
Temperatures are just now getting chilly, and it's the last day of November. ( actually, I'm wearing shorts now )
I have a neighbor downstairs as well as upstairs, and high efficiency windows as well, so I am well insulated.
The fridge seems to really be affected by the outside temperature, because I haven't done anything out of the ordinary ( for me that is ) to conserve energy, yet my kWh reading is at 17 kWh for the month. ( 20 last month )
