green roof permaculture project
Hi,
I'm considering modifying my garage roof from a slope to a flat green roof with a possibly a permaculture project. I'm just starting the idea phase and don't really know a whole lot about any of it. But it seems to be a perfect location to do so. It's approx. 10x20 and no shade. above it on the house roof I plan on solar water heating to supplement my radiant hot water heating. Any ideas or information would be greatly appreciated Thanks |

Welcome to the site.
That sounds like a cool project. I'd be interested in what goes into ensuring that your roof is strong enough to hold up under the newly added weight.

I plan on checking the footing and probably having the structure properly inspected before continuing.
The idea started with the need to redo my roof. For the garage I plan on making it it flat, and the added support is definitely a big consideration. |

Another thing to watch out for draining water: soil and plants up there will hold water and may cause mold rotting of the roof materials. |
