Default EPA Section 608 Technician Type I Certification for a DIYer?

This where I got my Type I cert.. https://www.epatest.com/608/

EPA Section 608 Technician Certification
Type I Certification – Can only work on Small Appliance (5lbs or less of refrigerant).

I think a DIYer might find it easier to buy refrigerant and even tools
from the local HVAC supply houses, if you have a type I cert card..
I know it's not necessary for buying R410A, but that might depend on the dealer sometimes.
R410A does not harm the Ozone layer, but it is considered to be a cause of global warming.

If you don't want to spend the $25 fee to take the Type I Certification test,
you still might want to download the (free) windows software package.
(Anti-malware & MS security essentials says it's clean).
It's got some good safety information, and information about EPA fines etc..

The manual only is on-line at https://www.epatest.com/608/manual/Manual.htm

I posted my 'review' of the site here:

The EPA encourages state law makers to make even stricter laws than the EPA.
So be aware that local regulations might over-ride the EPA regulations.

A type I EPA Certification allows you to buy any refrigerant on the market..
