Teen Decomposes Plastic Bag in Three Months
Some 16 year old figured out how to decompose plastic bags for a science fair project. Sadly, the process does create some CO2. Still, quite interesting.

Consider that plastic bags are made from oil, which would otherwise be turned into fuel and become CO2 anyway. When plastic breaks down over the millions of years, doesn't it turn into CO2 also? This is just faster. I wonder if it would be possible to spray these bacteria over a landfill to reduce the amount of trash in it? But then, what would be left over for archeologists 100000 years from now?
