Xringer that's good of you to"Wait" and see if your SS gets cut/absconded before applying for a kings ransom sized grant. Risky but better than being part of the problem.

I think Cutting the social programs will not solve the problem.
Shrinking the Government work force would be more Appropriate, They are over paid and under worked. Suck up more then their share of tax moneys.

Axe Government jobs and Cut the pay checks (Cheques) of the rest by 1/3 to 9/10 depending on Pay scale.
That would save what 1 trillion in 10 years ? I bet you know how much could be saved.. A ridiculous amount that's for sure !

Xringer,
Not exactly true. From Wikipedia:

"The recent invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan were largely funded through supplementary spending bills outside the Federal Budget, so they are not included in the military budget figures listed below.[6] Starting in the fiscal year 2010 budget however, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are categorized as "Overseas Contingency Operations" and included in the budget.

By the end of 2008, the U.S. had spent approximately $900 billion in direct costs on the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. Indirect costs such as interest on the additional debt and incremental costs of caring for the more than 33,000 wounded borne by the Veterans Administration are additional. Some experts estimate these indirect costs will eventually exceed the direct costs.[7] As of June 2011, the total cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is approximately $3.7 trillion so far.[8]"

So if you look at that chart it is showing the cost of the Vietnam War but not the costs of the more recent engagements. This negates the argument about defense costs. Again, the continuing problem of using selective and false data to prop up an invalid point.

I just mentioned to my wife your reply and we both agreed that I must be really getting to you for you to come up with something so infantile. When reason and facts no longer work then attack someone's manhood. Been there, done that. Of course the last time I did that was when I was in the eighth gradeor thereabouts. How old did you say you were?

When I retired 5 years ago, I was kinda surprised that SS was still here.
Didn't think it would have lasted this long.

Nowadays if you start collecting your SS, and you have teenage kids,
the SS nanny gives them checks too! Viagra caused that?
I wonder how many people are collecting from SS, that actually paid into it??
