Default suggestions for a desk lamp

I could really use a new desk lamp. The current one I'm using (below) is a halogen lamp. The thing uses more power than my computer when its fully on! Does anyone have any suggestions. I know there are a few CFL lamps which would probably work fine. My mother in law got me an LED lamp, but its really just not bright enough. I know there are a lot of options out there. So, what do you guys have that seems to work good?

Current setup.

In our living room we have a simple lamp that would take an incandescent light bulb, but we have a CFL in it. I think we picked up the lamp at a garage sale, so the bulb probably cost more than the lamp. It does a good job of lighting the living room at night, and it's a rather large room.

I used to use one of those large arm style desk lamps that clamps on to the desk with a spring tensioned arm, I left it with my parents and I either need to get it from them or get another one, it was great as you could move it anywhere, it has a 3 foot reach, stays where you put it and can be put in really close for task lighting.

I just picked up a Lights of America 1.5W LED light bulb from Walmart (40W equivalent). Great light quality for reading but either my watt meter is inaccurate or they're playing games with marketing. My watt meter measures the power draw at 3-4 watts.

I also grabbed an 2W LED pucklight because I was still within my $20 limit for silly purchases. It drew 4W according to my watt meter. I suspect the 2W rating on the light is accurate but the DC power supply is drawing the extra power. But at 4W total I don't really care. The pucklight is now mounted under my kitchen counter.

I had looked at fancy LED desk lamps, but I'd like something that puts out a descent amount of light. According to that review they don't put out much. I'll probably end up going with a traditional lamp and throw a CFL in it.

That's what I have. I like that it uses the same bulbs I have for the rest of the house.

It looks kind of like this, but really, any generic lamp would work.

Amazon carries a line of LED desk lamps by Koncept; I have one and feel that it puts out sufficient light- it has four brightness levels, is wonderfully adjustable and uses the advetised 9 watts vs 55 watts consumed by my older (retired) lamp.
