The tuner on the sangean's is hard to beat. Mine has a usb drive in lieu of internet, its my truck and work radio all day everyday. My favorite about internet radio was listening to music from its orgin like reggae from Jamaica.

Yeah, the music choices are bewildering.

I have come to understand that there are some companies that are creating 'regionalistic' programming, and positioning it so that it sounds just like it was coming from the area you're interested in, but then they will insert an ad in English.

I've found that with a little additional effort you can connect with the real thing.

Many stations, even very small ones, will have a streaming service. And if they stream on the Internet and you can pick it up on your computer, you can set up "Added Stations", which will be available under the 'Addded Stations' menu.

I really enjoy listening to foreign music too, it reminds me that the US is only 4% of the world's population, and that the other 96% are making some very interesting music.

But, I use mine mostly for information, as I can get world information (and information about the US) that I can't get otherwise.

For instance, there was a very interesting discussion on BBC Radio 4 about how the US military recruits and uses local Iraqi and Afghani translators, who then became traitors in the eyes of the locals. These interpreters are promised US citizenship, and the US, in some cases, do not follow through on their promise, or in other cases, the process takes so long (up to two years) that the entire families of the interpreters (mother, father, sisters, brothers) were murdered.

Ugh...

I just prepared a detailed post and then my PC crashed... grrrr...

The radio station is called "France Maghreb 2 99.5 FM".

The above link also has a "Listen Live" button.

Let me know what you think.

My girl had an old Android phone I installed internet radio on, now it's my work radio. When I need more volume, I connect my Bluetooth speaker.

Sounds like a dandy solution.

How does your station selection app work?

I know a guy who downloaded an app to his ipad, and the selection available to him is pretty narrow.

I may have mentioned it before, but I have discovered that there are a very large number of 'stations' available that appear to be international, but are actually domestic imitations of foreign radio.

Your interest may not involve listening to stations from other cultures, so that wouldn't be a problem for you.

Tunein has all the stations that I would listen to locally. I haven't tried to get real eclectic with it. DIRadio handles my "techno" fix.

Sure... to each, his own.

I am really zonked on the possibilities of listening to other cultures on radio. I mean the US is only 4% of the planet.

To me Internet Radio is like traveling, only without the shots.
