I now have the back rafters done and hurricane ties on all but two of them. I ran out of structural screws.
I ordered a new tool for this job. Double Cats Paw Wrecking Bar. Wrecking Claw 45 in. Double Cats Paw Wrecking Bar-AGP6004-201THD - The Home Depot I hope I can put a spacer 2 x 4 and straighten rafters. I know there are tools to do just that but I can use this for other things also. There are a lot of these out there but this this one is a better price than most. When you are working by yourself I find you need pry bars. Last edited by pinballlooking; 10-01-15 at 10:16 AM.. |

That's a great price for that tool.. The one I had cost a lot more..
I was able to sell mine, after I finished my project. It was a major back-saver. http://ecorenovator.org/forum/sale-t...k-up-only.html It's very handy for senior citizens, when the tool has a long handle..

I don’t know what the weather will be like. So I at least put in a three rafters in the front to hold things together.

Right now, it looks like the hurricane is going to make a right and head NE..
But, the whole coast is going to see wind and rain.. 3 rafters is good insurance..

Here is today’s crop.
A couple Serrano peppers that did not make the picture. I am not sure the tomato's will make it through this cold snap. I got rained out from working tonight. They are calling for 8-12 inches of rain this weekend. I hope they are wrong. |

Wow, I just looked at Intellicast and it looks like SC and NC are getting hit with
more rain than anywhere in the USA. Light snow up in Calgary Canada.. Dang.. ```` Edit 10/4/2015 12:30 AM.. 24 hours later: This is awful. I can not believe what I'm seeing in SC on the weather map right now. The intellicast map shows heavy rain, just like it did 24 hours ago.. Flash Floods, 'Once in 200 Years Rainfall Event' Loom in South Carolina - NBC News A foot of rain in one day is a disaster.. I hope you folks are going to be okay down there. Good Luck, Edit 10/4/2015 9:53AM The map is still showing rain clouds over SC, and an still more rain in the forecast. The total amount of rain must be breaking all the records.

Here as a video of my cold fish. The cat fish is the only one that seems happy.
Our back pasture The greenhouse. This radar looked the same yesterday. I have to keep pumping water out of my pool. I have 660 gallons of water stored for my aquaponics but yesterday I drained it all and no time I have fresh water now. |

That's good news! It must hard to keep the ladders from sinking into the ground..
I was picturing you looking up at the sky, like Noah, wondering when land would sighted. It's cooler up here, and our 'heavy' rain fall was limited to one day.. Luckily. SC is going to hold some major rainfall records for a very long time!

I did some work this morning and put in a couple more rafters.
No commitments tonight so I should be able to make more progress tonight. I was pricing pallet racking for the second and third row of 55 gallon drums. These will go on the back wall as a solar battery. I don’t feel very good about stacking plastic drums three high with water and no support. They are 440 pounds each the bottom would have 880 pounds pushing down on it plus its weight. The raking is 4’ deep so I would have to cut it down the three supports and weld them back up. If I just used ¾ inch plywood that is about $100 the pallet racking is about $270 it is 16’ racking with two shelves. Last edited by pinballlooking; 10-07-15 at 10:06 AM.. |
