Default Water heater?

Trying to decide on a water heater for the new house. So far my top two contenders are the Whirlpool 6th Sense and the Rheems EcoSense. While the Rheems looks like it comes out ahead with a 0.82 energy factor compared to the Whirlpool's 0.70, the price difference ($1730 for Rheems, $850 for Whirlpool) and the twelve year warranty on the Whirlpool versus the six year warranty on the Rheems make me wonder.

What's the most efficient natural gas, 50-ish gallon storage tank water heater under $2000? I know if nothing else I want an electric or piezo ignition so I don't have the standing pilot flame all year round.

Look on e-bay. Lots of tankless water heaters at very good prices.

Is there a reason you want a tank style heater vs tankless?

Greif posted this one in your introduction thread: Eternal Hybrid: The world's first and most advanced hybrid water heating system Looks to fit your application and budget and its more efficient than both of the ones you're looking at.

I just got one of these T-H3-DV.
http://www.takagi.com/index.php?prod...=133&page_id=2 Takagi USA - The tankless water heater pioneers. Experience "Endless Hot Water"[/url]
The Energy Factor of 0.95 is hard to beat and it vents with PVC.
If you shop around you can get it for about $1,000 shipped. Mine even came with free isolation valves for cleaning it.

12 year warranty heat exchanger and 5 year on parts.

This is where I got mine. They still have free isolation valves until end of Dec.

find a coupon code and do even better.

Wife has a profound dislike of tankless water heaters, otherwise I'd jump on one in a minute. 156 therms a year is better than the 214 of the Whirlpool or the 277 of the ancient Kenmore currently sitting there.

If you want to buy a water heater than solar water heater is the best choice which heats a swimming pool very efficiently. It can rises the temperature of pool at the level of 15 degree and tank style water heater is better than tank less water heater.

I will be getting a tankless water heater next time, i had priced them on eBay before and they are affordable that's for sure, $200 or less.
Its ridiculous to heat water then let it sit then reheat let it sit 24-7 , its old and crappy at that technology, IMO. I will not be buying a water tank again.

damn those water tanks haha.

Whirlpool will be your best bet. I'm also using whirlpool for 3 years and haven't faced a problem once.
