Hi Vern,
Thanks for reading and reading and reading my postings.. Hope you can find something useful in there. Right now, the temperature here heading for the single digits again. I'll bet it's great to live in a nice warm place.. I've been chilled to the bone so much, I can hardly remember how warm it was growing up in South Texas.. Ever since 1978, I've been thinking about moving to someplace warm.. The Blizzard of 1978 dropped an all-time record 27 inches of snow on Boston. Here, residents of Farragut Road in South Boston are digging out their cars from snowdrifts. (AP) |

Great my first Hello, from Xringer the man his self. You can see I like hotdogs. I'd like to add some links and pictures, but the fourm won't let me til I have 5 posts. I think this is post 7 and it's not bed time yet. Lets see if I can in-bed a picture ... New be's can do pictures. Now what about links ... My solar project (tons of video, enjoy) New be's can do links.
Click on my live data link, it's just below the first pictures. I only have a few KWh before I reach 17,000 KWhs this year. You guys are talking about foot prints, Zero electric bills so far.

I'm backkkkk.
Here's the tool list: 1) Flare tool Edit: 2)vac pump 3)pump oil 4)Nylog 5)Adapter 6)Crows feet I'll just cut off a wrench and socket and make my own. I think you'll like this. I believe it even graphs data and it has the micron meter built in. The cost is a little more then these idems, micron meter and good manifold set. 7)Digital line set (manifold) Edit: No graphing they call it data lock. It's a little more $. Not for me.

Also Found this idem. I think it may help with auto R134 stuff and it has the cutoff valves I like. Just keep the hoses on your manifold your using. It also has built in check valves.
Short hoses Vern

Wow! That's a lot of stuff to scan.. You solar farm is nice! I'll have to check it out in detail, to see how a real solar setup operates... One thing that really stands out is the pyramid car! I have never in my life seen anything remotely like it. It looks like something the Krill would drive on Altair-4 (the Forbidden Planet).. When you started getting into the details of construction, I was even more flabbergasted.. |

so my link is so poor, the footprint update is the pits.. Right now, I'm mostly using my TED for an alarm. To alert me if the Sanyo starts acting up. |

The micron meter is the important part. I did use my manifold when pressure testing. Made it pretty easy. If you don't have any R410a problems, you may not need that manifold for much else. I was going to get some of those Crows feet, but the sizes needed for the line set weren't real common IIRC. I just used some good quality adjustable wrenches. After getting a 'feel' for the amount of torque needed, by playing around with my torque wrenches, while holding the handle about half way down, to duplicate what the shorter adjustable feels like. I've been using torque wrenches and screwdrivers since 1967, so I wasn't worried about cranking flare nuts down too hard. |

My line set valves lost a little vacuum, when turned.. Didn't like that. But, the amount of vacuum lost was minuscule. |

Xringer,
I guess two things I don't want to go to far off topic on your thread. I agree on the digital manifold set, being a small part used on the install and for the exture $ may not be worth the built in gages. It looks like the dealer did not take back your first unit. What's the chance of you filling it with nitrogen finding the leak, then using a torch with silver solder to fix it? Silver solder is after all what line sets are put together with. Then because of the inverter technolgy it may fit in your daughter's place in Texas. Just get an air handler. Do a vacumn down in the garage to teat it. Just leave the micron meter on for a couple days. Wait, just a thought, first do the micron test to see if you can detect the leak with your tools. Then fix it and do the test again. One other thing, my older brother says that the mini splits never turn off. They just throttle back to there lowest speed and continue running all the time. I know about the 40w heater staying on, I'm not counting that. Vern
