I live totally off grid and have now for near 12 yrs. I have 512 watts of panel and my whole house operates on 12 volts D.C. My only water source is my roof. I compost all of my bathroom waste and heat with a wood burner. 2 propane fridges, a stove and a h/w tank that only uses the pilot light. Great site!
