Very nice! $250 is quite reasonable too. One of these may be in my future.

Are you planning on writing up some sort of review? I'm sure a few folks hear would like to hear your thoughts on it. Since you beat me to it, I suppose I'll wait a little while longer.

I was going to wait until it got to $200 to get it but $234 shipped is close enough.

Sure I will write up a review when I get it. I would like to use it for load center checkups.

I have 12.5 kw solar I run through that box and I would like to check for hot spots every so often.
I would like to look for HVAC leaks around the outlets doors windows. I want to use it on my new to be built greenhouse to help plug heat lose in the winter.

We live in the country 8 acres my dog barks at night I would like to use it to see what is out there. I usually use a spot light but I think this would get useful.

My boys what to make a funny ghost story where you can see the ghost foot prints and follow him to see where he is going.

I removed the link because I did not see the preview. The video was not like the preview was showing.

Pinball, - what G wire are you running in your 12.5 kW array down to the 220 circuit box? This would would be around 55 amps (peak).

I am interested as I am designing a similar sized system and don't want to put in too small a wire. My calculations show #6 stranded copper should have a low enough voltage drop (and hence low heating coefficient). # 4 copper gets really pricey . . .

But performance is always the key and am wondering if you will see localized heating at solar noon on a high kW production day with your installed wire.

This is where a FLIR is invaluable besides looking for insulation voids.

Thanks!

I already had number 2 aluminum wire that was installed to my barn.
This wire is what the power Co uses for service entry. The trencher guy sub contract for the power co. so he just used that wire when I built my house.

I wanted to keep that wire. So I just upped the copper wire size from the panels tow this wire and from the disconnect to the house to keep the voltage drop down.

FLIR ONE for Android for android got delayed a couple times so I canceled my order.

My greenhouse project cost are getting higher so I will wait a while to get the FLIR ONE.

Do you have a scrap yard near by?
If so this is where I get almost all my new wire.
Over the last year or 2 I have collected hundreds of feet of 4ga wire, bought for about 1/4 the price of MSRP.

I can see great application for the flir when building new equipment.
Here is my 240VAC powered solar panel in a box. It mimics the output voltage of a "12 volt solar panel" for charging a battery via solar charge controller.
I was running it hard testing to find any deficiencies. Found running the 25 amp bridge rectifier at anything over 12 amps made it get a little hotter than what I would like to see and at the full 25 amps it was really cooking at over 250'F.
Then found the fuse holder was cooking at 330'F at 25 amps.

So I went with different fuse holder, double the existing bridge rectifier and heat sink setup.

I tried out a flir E6 and did not care for it.
If you are looking for a dedicated flir unit save your self $1000 and just get something like the "inferior" i7.
