No mowing grass substitute

Just came across this is my youtube feed. Sounds really nice. I'm not a huge fan of mowing all the time, especially this time of the year.

Yes, but luckily some of it is pasture and does not need mowed as often.
Right now my kids have been mowing.

We have a virtually no mow yard. I usually mow a couple times a year and that's it. So far this year I have only had to mow once.

I live in Texas (NW of Fort Worth) where we have only had 5" of rain in the past 10 months and it's 105* daily in the summer... I didn't even really need to cut the one time I did. Just knocked down some odd tall weeds.
I'd love to have the problem of mowing as that would mean we have moved to a human hospitable part of the planet...

We average 6-8 hours a day at or above 100* for much of the summer. I am so glad I didn't use the recommended man J numbers or it would be unlivable in the house here.
