The valve screws directly on to the service fitting on the mini split condenser unit ? It has the little projection to depress the Schrader valve at the service fitting ?

I still have to use the adapter but yes it will depress the Schrader valve. These two Yellow Jacket 15012 were pictured coming with a ball valve and that is one reason I ordered them. It was the wrong picture it is just the hose and not ball valve. I wanted to be able to use the ball valves to leave the vacuum for a while to see if it would hold it and to go over 1000 then use them to when the charge was released.

They are still great short hoses made for vacuum and will work great for the job.

The MS are doing will I will read the gas meter at the end of the week.
But it is trending very well. I should have a good savings to report. I have noticed that my wife keeps the house much warmer with the new MS.
Maybe that is why she likes them so much. It has not gone under 20 deg but they have done well from 20 up. Very good heat at all temps so far.
The different zones have been nice we like having them. I keep my work space the temp I want and she does the same. We are both happier.

I have read the MS's with higher seer have more coil surface & therefore do better at colder temperature ?

Mine is only a 13 Seer . Last cold spell , , some where below 30 degrees ( maybe around 25 ? ) , I noticed the MS running almost constantly . I shut it off and turned the central gas furnace on . Until the temp rose .

We are predicted to have another cold front come in tonight and linger through the weekend . Will have a chance to experiment with it , again , at colder Outside Air Temperatures .

God bless

Gree 9,000 BTU 27 SEER Terra Ductless Heat Pump Air Conditioner System
LG 21,000 BTU 21 SEER Ductless Dual Zone Heat Pump System 9,000+12,000

Looks inside unit
This would go to the LG unit it just has so more style. And when it is in standby the louver covers the internals.
The Gree does not look bad but LG wins this one.

Outside unit
The Gree make less noise but it is 9,000 BTU LG is 18,000 BTU.
The LG has some protection for the coils facing the house.
No winner here.

Remote
The LG remote is a very nice size.
The LG does not have an auto fan this is our biggest issue with the LG.
It has a natural wind feature but I really do not like it. The temp goes up 2 deg at a time I don’t like this either.

The Gree remote is huge. It has a auto fan feature it will raise and lower the fan as needed. I really like this feature. You can adjust the temp one deg at a time I also like this one.
Clear winner is the Gree unit.

Heating
They both do really well at heating the lowest temps we have had is in the
20’s both were still putting out 120-125 heat very impressive. I can’t wait to try out the AC.

My wife and I both like the Gree MS better than the LG.
I was not going to buy a Gree but a local installer said he had been installing them for a while and he has good luck with them. I sure could not beat the deal I got on this one.

I was pretty sold on Fujitsu AOU12RLS2 12,000 BTU 25 SEER but when we decided to go with a duel head unit LG had the best 21 SEER and 9.20 HSPF COP 3.9 it was on sale on top of all that.

The comfort level is much better with the MS. With the inverter they run all the time and just adjust the compressor for more or less heat. Since it is always blowing warn air it just feels warmer.
Our natural gas heat is very warm but it heats up then cools off.

I am glad I decided to do my own install. I got quoted $3,000 to install them. That is very close to the price I paid for both units. I am very sure I took enough time to make the install look the way I wanted it to look and I am happy with it so is my wife. If I hired it out I am not as sure it would have turned out the same way.

If I was in a colder climate I would have going with the Fujitsu as it does better at lower temps.

I was trying to keep the cost down so I could get a payback but as we all know only time will tell if that will work out.

Thanks for the report. I'm surprised the Gree is the winner.
Was the installation the same for both units?

The Gree had a nut on the indoor unit was on so tight that I had to use a air impact wrench to get it off. I would bet that is just something strange with this one unit.
The LG manuals are a little better.
The Gree said tilt the unit very slightly toward to drain and the LG said just level it. But really if they were both single units the install is the same. No winner here.

I bought this line set cover twice.
Fortress Wall Duct Kit 12 Foot White 3 5/8" Wide
https://www.acwholesalers.com/Fortre...subCat=cat1048
Completely worth the money.

I used these AC disconnect I thought they were a good deal I would get them again.
Eaton 60 Amp 120/240-Volt 14,400-Watt Non-Fused Air Conditioning Disconnect $6.78
Eaton 60 Amp 120/240-Volt 14,400-Watt Non-Fused Air Conditioning Disconnect-DPU222RP at The Home Depot

This is the wire I used for the 240 volts good wire good price I would use it again.
Cerrowire 250 ft. 12/2 NM-B Wire $67
Cerrowire 250 ft. 12/2 NM-B Wire-147-1672G at The Home Depot

I used two of these to mount the second unit. I would use these again. I made a cement pad for the first one but one would not do that again. I put these in the dirt about 3 ½ deep and bolted the AC unit to them it is not going to fall over.
16 in. x 8 in. x 4 in. Concrete Block $1.48 each
16 in. x 8 in. x 4 in. Concrete Block-30168620 at The Home Depot
pictured here http://ecorenovator.org/forum/geothe...install-8.html

I used this wire to go between the outdoor unit and the indoor unit.
Yes I would use it again good price and heavy enough
15-ft 14-3 Indoor Non-Metallic Wire $11.97
(Warring this will not meet code in some places you need wire for outdoor use)

Crows foot flare nut wrench

Crows foot flare nut for the toque wrench.
I bought a set from Harbor freight and ordered a big one off eBay.
HF is a very good place buy these they have a very good price.
I also have a great set of full size SK flare nut wrenches I prefer to use them.

manifold gauges

I bought manifold gauges off eBay never again I would only buy Yellow Jacket gauges again.

ball valve

I ordered a ball valve that was not vacuum rated complete waste of money.
I bought a set of very short hoses that had ball valves on the that were not vacuum rated complete waste of money.
I bought
Yellow Jacket 93844 1/4" Compact Ball Valve Straight
Amazon.com - Yellow Jacket 93844 1/4" Compact Ball Valve Straight
vacuum rated 100% worth the money!

vacuum hose

I bought but only tested this note it does not come with the ball valve works
great worth the money.
Yellow Jacket 15012 12" •Pulls 75 micron vacuum or better on 36" hose
http://www.testequipmentdepot.com/ye...oses/15012.htm

I bought vacuum pump oil at local NAPA good way to go save on shipping.

One thing I highly recommend doing. Before connecting up the vacuum pump I ran it with just the hose you are going to use to vacuum. If you can’t pull a deep vacuum on just the hose and ball valve then you will never pull a vacuum on the system. This allows you to trust your equipment.

I hope this will help someone else that wants to do their own install.
Mark

I would not buy any of these again. I have torqued a lot of bolts and have a good feel for how tight they should be and in the end if they leak nitrogen they are not tight enough or can’t hold a vacuum.

I hope this will help someone else that wants to do their own install.

I bought the HF torque wrench and crows feet . I do not regret it .

I have also tightened my share of bolts , in my time . But not a lot of experience with flare nuts , flares and copper tubing . Especially the tiny 1/4" tubing & flares .

Different strokes . Very glad tour install turned out good & the MS's are performing well for you . :-)

God bless

On two of the ¼ I tightened to spec and once I put nitrogen pressure to them they leaked.
I have a set of flare nut wrenches I just used those tighten the lines up. The cost for the HF crow’s feet was cheap so no big deal.

Your mileage may vary.
