Default Sony's paper-powered battery

Sony's bio battery turns waste paper into electricity - BBC News

IMO producing the paper initially consumes more energy than Sony's battery would produce. Time will show if this battery can be an alternative to recycling paper.

I'm a bit confused by your first sentence.
The paper being used to power the battery is not being produced to power the battery.
Read your morning paper, tear it up and create a soft cool breeze to start your day.

Well, yes, you're right. There is a trend to reduce the amount of paper being produced, but what still needs to be made should come from recycling existing paper. What I meant was that turning existing waste paper into energy, while producing new paper from scratch, probably isn't worthwhile. Even without factoring in the costs of operating the "paper battery" itself (replacing the enzymes, electrodes, etc.).
