Saving energy with Nudism
I thought I'd start a thread on an experiment I've been conducting. Saving energy with Nudism. More specificly, Naturism.
Definitions:Nudism is basicly spending time with no clothes on. It can be a lifesyle, a hobby, or an occational vacation. Naturism in general is interchangable with Nudism, but to many holds an increased desire to be in nature or in balance with the environment. Either way- Nudism has nothing to do with sex or anything perverted. It is a family friendly and wholesome way to relax or live. The Theory Spending less time wearing clothes means less clothes to manufacture and less laundry to do. Also as it relates to renovation, skin is rather easy to clean compared to the permanant stains clothes get while painting, staining, or gardening. In hot weather, wearing less or no clothes means less air conditioning. The Experiment The nudist credo is "Nude when possible, clothed when nessesary." I have tried to live by that for a while now. Since I work from home I can devote much of my time to living this way. The Benefits It is easy to see the logic in not getting expensive clothes dirty when skin is so easy to clean, so moving on to less laundry. If you are not wearing clothes as often you have the double benefit of not causing excessive wear on the fabric while wearing or while washing. Fewer loads of laundry per week is less electricity and less water. Less wear on the fabric means the cloth lasts longer and we don't need to replace with new clothes. If the body is not draped in needless layers it is better able to cool itself in warm weather. This means less air conditioning. Interestingly, I have found that after a few weeks of acclimating, my body has been MUCH better at self-regulating temperature. I have been able to be comfortable in much lower temperatures as well. Through the last two winters I have been able to set the heat in the house at 63f while active. In the past I was never able to tolerate a cool house. I would have been uncomfortable at 70f with several layers. In fact, now when I have to dress to leave the house I often feel colder as I put on clothes. I have also eliminated the moisture problem in the bathroom by simply leaving the door open while showering. Other Benefits There have been other nice benefits found through this experiment. I have gained much in the way of self confidence and I am both physically and emotionally more comfortable in my own skin. Drawbacks? There is a greater desire to travel to tropical islands. I would be happy to share links to more information or answer questions. Last edited by hamsterpower; 02-16-13 at 07:58 AM.. |

I practice "Underwearism". I prefer just wearing my boxers while in my home. I just have to remember to get dressed BEFORE guests arrive.

If i lived someone warmer than Canada I could see Nudism being a natural choice, giving the circumstances of no natural fur coat, like are naked four legged friends have, for protection. I'll just keep my pants and long sleeve shirt on.
If I was on a warm pleasant sunny beach Nudism is a good choice, if you have some shade to protect yourself with, or a palm tree to lay under. Naked for fun around the house seems pointless to me, unless engaged in Female Companionship activities. |

I'm naked or as close to it as possible as often as possible, with one exception - working outside. I keep my skin covered for the most part if I'm outside, because I dont' take 'shade breaks'. When it's warm and I'm indoors, I 'might' wear pants [don't like shorts, don't wear under shorts or briefs] but all I ever wear is black. During the summer, you get used to the heat and the amount of excess that you sweat from wearing black in the sun actually helps to flush your body pretty well, apparently. I have to drink a good bit of water to stay hydrated or it seems like i can literally feel my blood getting thicker sometimes.
I'm generally comfortable in a wide range of temps tho. If it gets much below 50 degrees, I don't want to spend much time in it, clothed or not. |

I have always thought that wearing clothes in warm weather was some kind of strange fetishist social plague. The craziest part of it all is that one can be arrested, convicted and publicly labeled as a sex offender for being naked in their own yard. Yes our culture will deem those who sip iced tea in their own yards on 95° days naked to be the same as a rapist. If it's cold out I wear wool, hat, long underwear, sweater, socks and slippers inside. In the summer I keep my birthday suit on at home. I'm slowly planting evergreen trees around my property for privacy. Even if you get caught taking a leak in your yard you can be labeled as a sex offender! I pee outside every chance I get. Much more wholesome than the bathroom.

Glad I'm not the only one here.
SF, I like your tree plan. Too bad I don't have enough land to bother. I am planning to make a small fenced garden where I can work / relax outside. iamgeo, sounds like a good start. ecomodded, nude around the house is equally as pointless as dressing for no good reason. There are some nice nude beaches in Canada. Christ, Good on ya buddy. watch out for the thick blood. Have an ice tea on me. |

Pointless unless its real hot in the house.
I will confess, in the dead heat of Summer, perhaps for two weeks in total, it gets real, real hot in my house. 90 degrees or better, I have or do close my curtains and let the boys breath. Nothing wrong with nudity, in privacy/ nude Beach. Please though, not walking down the street. To many people with their own perversions out there to make it a common place thing. From exhibitionist's to flashers right up to the deviant type personalities. It is just Not needed. I think our society is too messed up to make it legal, even in your own yard. The Peeping Tom's we have already in society is an indication of what trouble it would Bring. A lot of sexual Assaults, Although maybe not against you or me, but our sisters may not fair so well. Men get aroused visually, fast, as the fondness of porn indicates. |

I also put some solar systems on a couple of nudest camps around here years ago and the even the teenage boys had a more respectful demeanor. |
